There’s always so much pressure when starting a blog. I feel like my first post should be VERY PROFOUND. Or VERY ENTERTAINING. Or VERY…something.
But right now, I don’t have much “very” to share. So I’ll just kind of jump in with a rambling post and hope for the best.
I’ve started my fair share of blogs. I even had a somewhat-consistent and successful blog at one time. But it’s been a while. I found other interests, other hobbies. Closed up shop, pulled down years of posts, and moved on.
Lately, though, I’ve felt the pull to blog again. So here I am, starting a new blog, not knowing whether it will last a few weeks or a few years. I refuse to make any promises this early in the game.
I’m not following any of the common blogging advice to have a specific topic and a target audience. Honestly, my only goal is for this blog to represent me, for it to be a place where I can write about whatever’s on my mind, whatever has caught my interest that week. I’m sure I’ll write about:
- My family (because I love them)
- Homeschooling (because it’s a new journey for us and I really don’t know what I’m doing so I might just need to process a little)
- Photography (because I’m more than a little obsessed with it)
- Our cats (because even though we only have two of them, I’m probably part “Crazy Cat Lady,” deep down)
There will be days when I just post a picture or two. There might be a little sarcasm at times. I’ll likely refer to coffee and chocolate and naps. I will do a lot of documenting our everyday. And I’ll try to be real. As real as responsible blogging can be, anyway.
So why “Composed…for the moment”?
Well…it just fits.
A writer takes time to compose her work (even if it’s just a brief blog post).
A photographer puts thought into composing an image in a pleasing manner.
And as for me, well sometimes it seems I’m only composed, put together, for moments here and there.
It fits, and I like it. And the domain name was available, which always helps.
That’s probably enough rambling for one post, don’t you think?
I do want to thank you for visiting. I know this might be a scattered, random blog with no apparent rhyme or reason. But I hope that every now and then, I post something — in words or in a photo or both — that makes you smile, or think, or just makes you glad you stopped by.
