I’m pretty horrible when it comes to picking “favorites” of just about anything. I like to keep my options open, and to be honest, I’m just flat-out indecisive much of the time. So I chose not to title this post “15 Favorites from 2015” or “Top 15 from 2015.” No. Instead, it’s just 15 from ’15, as in: 15 pictures I took in 2015 that I still enjoy looking at.
As I pulled these pictures together, I noticed something. For several years, I would only say I “really liked” one of my photos if it reached some level of technical proficiency (really, I wanted to be as close to technical perfection as I could get), and I was always looking for some kind of quintessential “great picture” as judged by some self-imposed standard.
But this year, that is less the case. Yes, I think that as I took most of these pictures, I was thinking about exposure, and composition, and focus, and all that important stuff. However, the photos I chose for this post caught my eye for reasons other than technical proficiency. Instead, they might have something quirky about them, or maybe they made me laugh. Maybe I felt like I caught the perfect coincidental moment, or perhaps the picture just reminds of something that warms my heart.
It’s a change I’m glad to see. In some ways, maybe I’ve come full-circle in my photography and am getting back to taking pictures that are meaningful to me…not just trying to “take a great picture.”
But that’s enough talking. Here are fifteen photos I took in 2015 that I still like. And before you say anything, yes, I know that there are too many cat pictures. But that’s just how it goes.

I enjoyed looking at the pictures, yes, lots of cats, but enjoyable. I also like the bird pictures you do, plus the humans.
